It is funny how it is the littlest things that can make you so happy. I went to the library today to study insurance licensing, as I am considering becoming an insurance agent for some time. And so I was there reading for a long time, along my own path, in complete control of how my life was going, what I was doing, and then a guy came up to me, put a starburst on my desk and said, "I commend your diligence in studying." And I watched as he went on, and I marveled.

The small bit of surprise over a free piece of candy was nice, but for me, it was magnified so much by what it meant to me. It reminded me that the things that affect my life are not only under my control, that I am not the sole responsible party for my own happiness, and that my own unhappiness or happiness is not purely based on knowledge or ignorance and my actions, but that things outside of myself, outside of my own effort, my own seeking, can bring me happiness. I think I saw the miracle in that starburst, because I have been seeking so much for one, but it did not diminish the fact that it existed. I don't even know if I said thank you to that random stranger. I was too surprised to react at all, but now that I have had time to think, I want to thank him, and I want to thank anyone reading this blog for the kindness you bring to unsuspecting strangers. You may be a miracle in their lives and have no idea of it.

And then as I studied my scriptures, another chance occurrence came, and another realization of something I could do for myself, or ask someone else to do.

And to think my hope, my happiness, and my miracle was just this:

Thank you random stranger.
